Child Obesity-Employer Problem

Child obesity has been in the news lately and for good reason.  Michelle Obama is on a mission.  In my opinion, a good mission; obviously to address the health of our children but also to reduce the rising cost of health care. The only way employers can impact medical insurance costs (for employers AND employees) is to reduce the amount of medical claims.  In other words, you need healthy employees with healthy dependents.  The statistics regarding child obesity are alarming.

Here is one of the articles I recently read: Childhood Obesity Costs Employers in Health Care, Productivity!

  1. Kaye Abad says:

Obesity is a growing health problem these days because people are too lazy to do some extra exercise and they eat too much. i always exercise and do cardio regularly to maintain a healthy weight.

  2. Karen says:

I don’t think it is always a matter of being lazy. Many people, especially those that have long days at the office, easily put exercise on the back-burner and do not make their own health a priority. This sets an example for their children too (work, eat, sleep). Making exercise a priority and a family activity can really make a difference and shape our youth. Employers really need to partner with their employees to coordinate programs and opportunities for exercise. Wellness programs are a great place to start, but they require an infusion of cash that is hard to come by today. I think these programs are a worthwhile investment, but as an employer, it is a pricey pill to swallow to get started.

  3. Obesity and diabetes are becoming more and more of a problem these days. Actually it is easy to avoid being overweight by just having the proper diet and exercise.

    • Irene says:

When Logan left, people only criticised Albert, now they want him back! Yo;u&8217#re better shut up before this guy leaves, imagine a girl in his place!!! That would be terrible!

  4. It’s really well done! Respect to author.

  5. Grace Brown says:

more people are becoming obese these days because of too much junk food and too much sugar in snacks and fast foods. |

  6. Healthy weight is easy to maintain, just watch your diet and always exercise.;’.

  7. you can achieve a healthy weight by having exercise regularly and eating healthy foods too.,”*

  8. maintaining a healthy weight can be tricky because it revolves around genetics and some other factors :,’
